Traces - Stockholm

The second volume of the TRACES series by TagsAndThrows collects 204 pages of tags and throw-ups photographed in Stockholm over 25 years (2000–2025). Published in a refined pocket-sized format, the volume maintains the black and white aesthetic that distinguishes the series.

In a city where graffiti has long been aggressively removed and where periods of zero tolerance meant tags were often cleaned within 24 hours, the book serves as a unique historical document of Stockholm's bombing scene.

Here, well-known names from Stockholm's writing scene, active for several decades, meet more transient graffiti bombers, international visitors, and a new generation of writers who have started to leave their mark on the city's surfaces in recent years. The styles are diverse, ranging from raw and energetic tags to the obsessive repetition of the perfect throw-up.

Thomas Karl-Johan Gunnarsson is a Stockholm-based photographer who founded TagsAndThrows in the 2010s, a social media channel entirely dedicated to tags and throw-ups.
