Stickit is an editorial project founded in early 2001 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, as a platform to promote the emerging street art movement: graffiti, stencils, stickers, but also murals and street installations. Stickit's website was for years a rapidly growing database showcasing the diversity of the scene, featuring creations by both young local artists and established renowned artists. The site also included a forum to discuss various topics and meet other artists and people with similar interests. For many, this booming scene represented a movement without rules or boundaries. Anyone could participate to express their creativity.
Over the years, Stickit's goal has remained the same, but it promotes the scene differently. Today, Stickit invites artists to create a monograph of their work, usually in the form of a zine. In terms of interpretation, they have complete freedom. Stickit targets artists from different disciplines, united by their background in street art and graffiti. To promote the publication, an exhibition is then organized or a mural is created.
