Using primarily white paint and black spray, by 2023 he had managed to paint over 760 wagons belonging to these models.

The works, characterized by an essential and stripped-back style, capture immediate attention when a line of coal-laden Falns wagons passes through the landscape. Much like in a sketchbook, DELTA uses each wagon to develop an idea, before moving on to the next.

"The time required to paint a wagon varies from 25 minutes to an hour. […] In the summer months, it is possible to complete multiple works consecutively: often three in a session, but sometimes even five or more. For a certain period, I managed to reach the goal, set for no particular reason, of painting at least one hundred wagons per year."

121/183 resembles an exhibition catalog, in which almost every work has been documented head-on, with no distracting elements in the background. Although each work is dated and sometimes accompanied by a title, the pieces are not presented in chronological order, but grouped into conceptual series. Short texts by the artist intersperse the photographic sections and offer food for thought on impermanence, tools, the spot, and methods of execution.

"...each work had to be as unique as possible. A sketch had to be made in advance for each piece. To minimize repetition, it is essential to dedicate a lot of time to preliminary study and continuously seek new variations."

Additional chapters include close-up details, photographs of worn wagons documenting the progressive deterioration of the artworks, and a concluding critical essay by François Chastanet.
